Interesting Facts

  • Liberty Plaza has its beginnings in the 1980s when a modest shopping complex was built with some up - market shops to serve the middle class of the population.
  • The increasing demands of the fast paced urban lifestyle resulted in the establishment of the Liberty Arcade, just a few meters past the main shopping mall, which is home to many exemplary fashion stores along with restaurants.
  • Although modernized, the mall still operates at archaic times where it opens quite late in the morning and closes quite early in the night.

Times, Seasons and Tips

  • The mall itself is opened Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 7.00pm, with the exception of Saturday when it closes by 2.00pm.
  • It is during the afternoon that it gets quite crowded, especially the food court area. Just make sure you arrive early or much later in the evening.
  • Although the mall itself closes at 7.00pm, certain shops do not and is quite clearly seen with Burger King in the top floor that only closes at 10.00pm and the Keells supermarket in the basement. At least the mall is opened for your late night cravings.
  • Make sure you are careful of your belongings, especially when the mall is crowded.

Liberty Plaza has been a central location for any urban folk looking for shopping and entertainment since the 1980s. With an ever increasing consumer base, there is no sign of the mall fading out to the more recent malls that have opened, justifying that the mall is your one stop shop for literally anything and everything.
