The Sooriya Village

Nestled amid a leafy garden in the heart of Colombo 5, ‘The Sooriya Village’ is a melting pot where enchanting performances of artistic flair meets gastronomic luxury.

The Menu

Inspired by native and international cuisine, the menu at this fine dining restaurant in Colombo 5 delivers wonderfully piquant tang combinations. An array of starters mixes familiar flavours with exotic notes, the result of which are dishes like Baby Jack Fruit Frikkadels and Pork Ribs in Kitul Treacle Sauce (a sauce made with toddy extracted from the wine palm). From Roasted Pumpkin and Tomato and Cauliflower Soup, to Chicken Mulligatawny, Soup treats host cockle-warming notes. The jewel-hued Purple Heart Beat Salad with its beetroot and feta goodness arrests one’s eye whilst the Poached Chicken Salad brims with hearty Asian flavour.

Paired with fries and coleslaw, picture-perfect Sandwiches highlight generous fillings like Tuna, Coconut Sambal and Cheese, Devilled Chicken and Tomato with Mozzarella. Acknowledging the island’s culinary heritage, Sri Lankan style mains include Jaffna Prawn Curry and Pork Malabar Tamarind Curry - partnered with Pol Roti, Sri Lankan Roasted Flatbread or Rice - alongside creamy Dhal Curry and Coconut Sambol.

The golden-brown Cauliflower Au Gratin, cloudy-pink Grilled Salmon Fillet and Roast Lamb on a bed of sunny Mediterranean Potatoes are gorgeous reminders of Europe’s culinary sophistication. Hearty nods to seafood recipes from across the globe, Tom Yum Prawns, Baked Crab, Portuguese Style Seafood Rice and Chili Prawn Pasta are basked in cascading seasonings. Dreamy dessert concoctions like Chocolate Mousse Cake, Curd and Jaggery Twist, Cinnamon-Honey Crème Brulee and Passion Fruit Pavlova transports diners to magical places.
