Raja Bojun

Located at the iconic modern mall, ‘Liberty Arcade’ in Colombo 3, ‘Raja Bojun’ lays out spreads that are rich manifestations of Sri Lankan gastronomic heritage. Between upcountry, low country and coastal culinary delights, the gateway is open to a Ceylonese culinary heaven.

The Menu

At ‘Raja Bojun’, harvests drawn from organic gardens and rice fields, together with the ocean’s bounty, give life to an array of home-grown recipes. Each dish highlights a combination of natural ingredients like saffron, cinnamon and curry leaves.

The restaurant’s main attraction is the classical Rice and Curry, Sri Lanka’s age-old staple. An array of authentic curries, including the Creamy Chicken, Crab, Fish Ambul Thiyal (sour fish curry), Polos (baby jack fruit curry), Mango, Lotus Yam, Gotukola Mallum (pennywort salad), Karawila (bitter gourd) and Potato Tempered, along with a host of fragrant treats like Sinhala Achcharu (pickle), Chutney, Pol Sambol (coconut sambol) and Papadam, make great accompaniments for fresh-off-the-pot Steamed Rice. Cosmopolitan favourites, such as Fried Rice and Kottu Roti (a griddle fry-up of chopped flatbread, veggies and meats) are also available. Vibrant action stations turn out the likes of Seafood Rotty, Egg Hoppers, Chicken Parata and Grilled Sausages.

The dessert spread brims with Ceylonese and international delectables, including Curd with Treacle, Watalappan (coconut custard pudding), Fruit Salad, Ice Cream and Chocolate Mousse. From Fresh Fruit Juices and Cocktails, to Spirits and Arrack, the bar serves up a glass of happiness.

The Experience

Conveniently located amongst the stylish environs of Colpetty, this restaurant in Liberty Arcade whips up a casual yet elegant ambiance, perfect for those looking for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The airy and brightly-lit air-conditioned dining area offers symmetrically laid out seating areas. A huge elephant statue and ornamental trees add tropical character. Designed to accommodate 80 guests, the rooftop lounge with its sea-view balcony is ideal for special occasions, such as, birthday parties, seminars and meetings.

Mop up village-style sweet onion relish and southern prawn curry with milky plain hoppers, at a cosmopolitan dining retreat. What an eclectic combination of the traditional and modern?
