King of the Mambo

Drink Dine Dance to the sensual sounds and sways of the mambo. The South American themed culinary venue has danced its way to our island shores, to the iconic oceanfront luxury heritage hotel, ‘Galle Face Hotel’ at Colombo 3. A Cuban-Mediterranean dining experience, in an ambience that takes you on a culinary journey to the Cuban island, exploding with a blend of flavours, rhythm and colour.

The ‘King of the Mambo’ is a Latino lounge-restaurant, styled in the décor of the 1950s with a selection of classic cocktails, creative culinary specialties and entertainment in a sunset setting, while one dances the Mambo, accompanied by the songs of legends such as Pérez Prado and Tito Puente.

The Menu

The menu boasts of signature cocktails with exciting flavour profiles and unique Cuban twists while the cuisine, rich in flavour ranges from seafood, meats, veggie and vegan with an intriguing splash of the rare and unusual.

Bar bites such as La Tetona; cherry tomatoes and burrata cheese tartine, Calamarcitos Calientes; fried calamari with chili flakes and lime, Tacos Dominicanos; beef tacos with sour cream and avocado guacamole and the Pimientos Del Papito; pork sausage and sautéed fresh peppers effortlessly partner cocktails in a flavourful dance.

The Signature cocktails such as the Black Mambo; a blend of tequila, raspberry liqueur, fresh pineapple juice and blue curacao give a refreshing spike to the evening, while the El Republicano Bananero; a fruity and lively combination of gin, cream de banana, pineapple and clove syrup is on offer and the El Communista Burgués; a blend of vodka, passion fruit puree, fresh basil and apple juice awaits those who feel like being cool without believing in the cause.

The Cold Plate selection comprises of Espárragos A La Toronja; a dance of roasted asparagus, pomelo and almond flakes, the Carnitas Vuelta Y Vuelta; a seared beef carpaccio, the Pastelito De Cangrejo, a salad infused with avocado and crab meat, while the De Habichuelas Verdes, a green bean salad is choreographed especially for the vegan. A selection of tempting sides such as the Moros Y Cristianos; Cuban traditional rice and black beans, Papas de La Marquesa, French fries with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil tantalise.

A Barbecue selection of meats, seafood and vegetable is available. Woody salmon and baby asparagus in the Naranjito Braseao, Delicias Del Arábe, Mediterranean-style lamb chops, Pulpon; marinated octopus and Garras De Tigre, the jumbo tiger prawns with citrus sauce and for patrons that want a flavourful combination, the Pinchos Senores is an ideal choice, serving king skewers of pork, beef, lamb, chicken and seafood.

Mains such as Paella Valenciana, a seafood Paella filled with clams, mussels, king prawns, calamari and fish, hot plated Chicharrón Del Mambo, a crispy pork belly with mambo sauce, the Hamburguesitas, a combo burger collection, with a choice of beef, chicken or crab, the Milanesa Del Rey, a jumbo beef cutlet or the Pasta Con Albóndigas Indias, a linguini spaghetti with beef meatballs, are tempting choices.

Merengue A La Rusa, a fresh fruit king Pavlova, the Ron Del Mambo, a small cake saturated in rum-tasting syrup and filled with whipped cream, stewed peaches, strawberries and candied orange peel and the Volcán De Chocolate, a moist cake oozing with flavour and for the dairy lover the Yogur Helao, a frozen yogurt entices.
