Big Fish

Inside a chef-driven, upscale-casual restaurant at the ‘Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa’, the day’s fresh catch harvested from the ocean waters beyond the resort, transform into gastronomic feasts where exotic meets decadent: ‘Big Fish’.

The Menu

From sambal mayonnaise-dressed Crispy Bay Anchovies and paprika-spiced Piri Piri King Prawns, to creamy Lobster Bisque and fennel-scented Big Fish Soup, starters capture lip-smacking accents.

The fish market displays luscious sea harvests, including Rock and Bay Lobster, Cuttle Fish, Bay Snapper, Lagoon Crab, Jack Fish, King and Lagoon Prawn and Mahi Mahi Fish; which are lava stone-grilled or cooked and orchestrated with the likes of Hollandaise, Tomato Salsa and Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce. These treats can be sided up with Garlic Rice, Mashed Potato, Broccoli and Forest Mushroom, to chime in with one’s taste buds.

In a sumptuous appreciation of Barramundi, Steamed Barramundi is paired with Seafood Rice; Grilled, with Mushroom Risotto; and Curried, with Steamed Rice and Coconut Sambal. In an extravagant signature collection, the Lagoon King Crab Curry sits on a bed of Yellow Rice while the Portuguese Seafood Rice culls together squid, shrimp, clam and snapper treats. Ice Creams, Fruit Platters, Pavlovas, Cocktails, Beers, Fresh Juices and Liquours are meant to beautifully partner-up with the seafood delights.

The Experience

Spacious, but skillfully designed to capture a sense of snugness, the ‘Big Fish’ flourishes around chef-hosted tables and theatrics. The lava, stone grill which is the cynosure of all eyes, serves as the common meet-up zone with the chef. Guests can choose from wooden, cosy interiors and a breeze-swept outdoor terrace.

Steamed rice, coconut sambal and barramundi fish curry kicked up with mustard; a tropical dinner to enjoy, while watching the crashing oceans…
